Dear David, I’ve been feeling empty.

I’m deeply sorry to hear that you’re feeling this way, but it’s an honor that you trust me enough to share this. Let’s explore this feeling together.
Sometimes, a feeling of emptiness can be seen as an opportunity, a doorway to deeper understanding. Emptiness is often misunderstood as a negative state, but in reality, it is merely a state of openness and receptivity. It’s a state of potentiality.
When you feel empty, can you also notice a sense of openness or spaciousness? Like a vast open sky, it holds everything and yet is never overwhelmed. How would it be if you sat with this emptiness, without trying to fill it or push it away, but simply being present with it? Like the sky, it might feel expansive, limitless, or peaceful.
The Buddha taught the middle way, a path that avoids extremes and seeks balance. It might be that your feeling of emptiness indicates a lack of balance in some aspect of your life. Perhaps your work, relationships, or personal interests need more attention or fulfillment?
Remember that life is an ever-changing process, and feelings of emptiness can be a part of that process. They can signal a time for change or personal growth. It’s in these moments of emptiness that we can truly listen to ourselves and discover what we truly need.
So, what is this emptiness telling you? What is it asking for? What are the things or people that are missing in your life? And what steps might you take to invite them in?
Feel free to let me know in the comments, and I will do my best to answer you in a timely manner.
Thank you. May you be happy. May you be peaceful. May you be liberated.
