Recognize the underlying desires or fears that drive your attachments and aversions

--

When we feel attached to or averse to something, there is usually an underlying desire or fear that is driving that emotion. For example, if we are attached to material possessions, it may be because we have a fear of not having enough or a desire for status and recognition. By recognizing these underlying desires or fears, we can begin to address them directly and work towards a deeper sense of inner peace and fulfillment. We can ask ourselves questions like “What is it that I am really seeking through this attachment/aversion?” or “What am I afraid of losing if I let go of this attachment/aversion?”
